Bond/Override Information

More than 6,000 students attend Sahuarita Unified School District and student enrollment continues to increase year after year. We are deeply grateful to Sahuarita voters for approving bond funds in 2016 to benefit SUSD students. As promised to voters, bond dollars are making a difference for every student in our district.

Planning and development are well underway for a new K-8 school. The Educational Programming Steering Committee has spent the last few months working with various project stakeholders through the Design Development phase. This team provided specific feedback on the architect design proposals to achieve a functional and flexible campus that will give our students the very best learning experience possible.

The new school will serve approximately 750 K-8 students in the Sahuarita area. The school will be located approximately 1 mile south of Sahuarita Rd. and Rancho Sahuarita Blvd. on approximately 19 acres. Land for the district’s newest school was donated by Rancho Sahuarita Company. The athletic and recreational facilities will be built through a partnership with the Town of Sahuarita. The athletic and recreational facilities will be available for community use after school hours.

Construction is slated to take place August 2017 through July 2018. The school is projected to open fall 2018. As our community continues to grow, Sahuarita USD is committed to taking a careful and comprehensive approach to school facility planning, focusing on the most critical needs and placing student learning foremost.  The community’s willingness to invest in our school district will pay dividends for our students and the community for years to come.
