May 5, 2020
Dear Sahuarita High School Families,
I try to get straight to the point in my communications and this email is no different. We have created new end-of-year procedures for families to follow to pick up student belongings, return textbooks and library books, pick up diplomas, and pick-up yearbooks.
Drive-By Diploma Pick-Up
All cohort 2020 seniors are scheduled to pick up their diplomas at Sahuarita High School on May 20 and 21. For the safety of students and staff, this will be a DRIVE-BY pick-up where students and families remain in their vehicles. Students will enter SHS through the east gate and drive to the front office parking lot. FOR SAFETY/SOCIAL DISTANCING PURPOSES, PLEASE REMAIN IN YOUR VEHICLES. Please be prepared to present your identification to pick up your diploma and corresponding documentation. To reduce congestion, we have scheduled two days of pick-ups and also have scheduled specific times for pick-up based on the students’ last names.
Wednesday, May 20 from 7-10am
- 7:00-8:00am LAST NAME BEGINNING WITH LETTERS A-D
- 8:00-9:00am E-H
- 9:00-10:00am I-L
Thursday, May 21 from 7-10am
- 7:00-8:00am LAST NAME BEGINNING WITH LETTERS M-P
- 8:00-9:00am Q-T
- 9:00-10:00am U-Z
Library Book/Textbook/Uniform Return & Personal Property Pick-up
Sahuarita High School will be open for students to return textbooks, library books, uniforms as well as for personal property pick-up from teachers, art rooms, and locker rooms. Teachers will be reaching out to their students to see if they have any belongings that are needed from classrooms. To reduce the number of people on campus, please only request belongings that are needed now— if it is something that is not needed immediately, please wait until school resumes in August and pick up property when school resumes.
Pick-up/drop-off takes place over the span of several days to reduce the number of students and families that are on campus at any given time. Additionally, we have scheduled specific times for students to come in based on the first letter of their last name to further reduce the number of people that are on campus at any given time. Social distancing standards will be in place. Please maintain at least 6’ distance between people. The CDC recommends wearing a mask or a cloth face cover. If you are sick, please do not come in. On your scheduled day and time, come to the SHS front office parking lot. We will have the gate to campus open that is next to the front office and we will have tables set up to return books, uniforms, and to pick-up belongings. We will also have staff at the locker rooms so students will be able to access their belongings. Please bring your locker combination. Again, this is not an opportunity to socialize, so please take care of campus business as quickly as possible for the safety of everyone involved. If you have multiple children who attend SHS who are in different grades, choose any day and we will take care of all of your children in one trip. Please note that PE lockers will be cleaned out and the contents of the lockers will be disposed of beginning on Friday, May 15.
