This one day workshop uses modeling and various activities to demonstrate a close reading routine teachers can use with students to help them become independent readers and thinkers about text, including learning how to select texts appropriate for close reading and write text dependent questions. Participants will use Text Complexity: Raising Rigor in Reading (Fisher, Frey, & Lapp, 2012), which will be provided.
