Participants will gain an overview of middle grade-level writing strategies to incorporate the traits of writing (Ideas, Organization, Voice, Word Choice, Sentence Fluency, Conventions) into instruction using mentor texts. These strategies will also address the basics of argument writing; as well as assessment using rubrics. Participants will receive their grade level’s Trait Crates, by Ruth Culham, as a resource.
