Clubs

Sahuarita High School offers a wide variety of student activity clubs. These clubs are established and run by students, but have a teacher or staff member sponsor, who is present at all organized meetings.

Art Club

Meets every other Thursday.
The SHS Art club’s mission is to unite students in pursuing artistic expression, excellence and appreciation. We work in a variety of materials to creative various works of art from public projects to individual endeavors.

Band Club

Meets in E105 the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in the fall and the 2nd and 4th Thursday in the spring. The club alternates between class time and after school meetings.

Chorale

The Chorale is a performing ensemble that operates in a co-curricular fashion, since is is a credit course that meets daily as a class. Most of the performances take place off-campus, though they do appear in the Winter and Spring Arts Concerts. The Chorale also performs in regional and state and out-of-state music festivals. Chorale officers meet once per week, normally on Wednesdays during regularly scheduled classes to conduct ensemble business.

Creative Movement Club

Meets in E105 the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in the fall and the 2nd and 4th Thursday in the spring. The club alternates between class time and after school meetings.

Do Something Club

The Do Something Club is based on finding different community and school projects that our club members are interested in.  Our motto is, ” Do Something and Take Action”.  This year we have sponsored, Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and helped with a Dig Pink Volleyball Game Night.  Various Sahuarita High School students wrote 355 letters to our Military to wish them Happy Holidays through the organization called, A Million Thanks. We are currently working on stuffing 80 Holiday Stockings for the ill children at University Medical Center.  We are purchasing items to fill the stockings and Sahuarita High School Student Council provided us with an additional  $300.00  to help fill those stockings to the brim.

FCA (Fellowship of Christian Athletes)

Meets every Wednesday at 2:30pm in F232.

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has been challenging coaches and athletes on the professional, college, high school, junior high, and youth levels to use the powerful medium of athletics to impact the world for Jesus Christ. FCA is the largest Christian sports organization in America. FCA focuses on serving local communities by equipping, empowering and encouraging people to make a difference for Christ.

FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America)

FCCLA holds its meetings on Thursdays in the Culinary Arts Classroom C121, from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm

This is a career and technical student organization associated with the program of Culinary Arts. We focus on the development of leadership and professional skills, community service, fund-raising, social activities, and competitions. All students currently in the Culinary Arts program are welcome and encouraged to participate in our activities. There is a $15 membership fee.

Jazz Band

MakerSpace

The Mustang Maker Space is an organization whose members want to expand their minds through STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math) and other innovative activities.  

Meeting times are Thursdays during lunch and Fridays from 3:15-5:15 p.m. Students also gather informally before school and during lunch.

MESA (Math Engineering Science Achievement)

Meets every Friday after school in F227.

MESA is sponsored by the University of Arizona. It promotes a strong academic foundation in mathematics and science as the key to college admission and success. Hands-on activities and team competitions focused on mathematics, engineering, and science are highlighted in order to increase students’ confidence in these areas. Other elements of MESA:

  • Hands-on math, science, and engineering exploration;
  • College and career information;
  • Role models from higher education and the business community;
  • Special events including competitions, campus visits and field trips;
  • Peer group experiences to support college aspirations.

Orchestra Club

Meets in E105 the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month in the fall and the 2nd and 4th Thursday in the spring. The club alternates between class time and after school meetings.

Sahuarita Express Theatre (aka the Drama Club)

Meets every other Tuesday at 3:15pm in F104.

Sahuarita Express Theatre meetings are fun-filled with a focus on performing, improv, team-building, and community service. There are many opportunities to perform throughout the year with multiple recital nights and two shows, fall and spring.
